house party update

The Free House Party – Halloween Holiday Pack Is Out Now!

Halloween is back, partiers!

Enjoy chilling at a decked-out house party filled with spine-chilling ambience, sinister costumes, and much more in this petrifying autumn party pack!

Here by popular demand, the House Party – Halloween Holiday Pack is a permanent version of the limited-time 2022 seasonal Halloween update.

This DLC brings pumpkins, spooky ghosts, a skeleton, tons of spider webs, and one giant furry spider back to decorate Madison’s house in creepy fall vibes!

It also dresses all of the NPCs at the party in a chilling succubus costume – including startling horns, creepy bat wings, and a sexy, spiky tail!

Thanks for your patience as we worked to get this ready, doods!

We know it’s taken a while, but we hadn’t originally planned for the 2022 limited-time event to become permanent. It was a spur-of-the-moment idea fueled by season-induced passion, and it really wasn’t built to be in the game year-round.

However, after seeing so many of you ask for it to stay around, our team worked alongside our already-planned development schedule to completely rebuild the Halloween and Winter events so they’d be suitable to be in House Party permanently.

This full restructuring includes:

  • Making it so the DLCs are optional and won’t bloat the base game if you never plan to play or install them
  • Allowing you to toggle the DLC on and off if you don’t feel like enjoying the Halloween aesthetic during a specific play session
  • Ensuring merging the content with House Party wouldn’t cause any major bugs or issues with the short or long-term health of the base game
  • And, best of all, future-proofing the DLC so we can add more exciting content in additional updates! 🤘

While the Halloween Holiday Pack will visually look the same as the event did in 2022 (so, no, don’t expect to see any “new” playable content or cosmetics yet), it’s undergone complete restructuring and there are major framework changes under the surface. And these changes will allow us to properly add extra content (cosmetics, decorations, side-quests, achievements, etc.) to the Halloween Holiday Pack in the future as time permits!

Also implemented into this framework beneath the holiday pack are the roots of a very exciting new feature that we plan to bring for free to all players in the future. We won’t spoil exactly what this is yet, but we’ll just say it’s something MANY of you requested in the latest survey we released!

So, get excited, doods and lady-doods, because what’s coming is gonna be amazing – and we can’t wait to share more details as we get further along in development.

And, if you’re still waiting for the snowy season to return, don’t worry! The House Party – Winter Holiday Pack will be ready to play very soon, too!

But, in the meantime, what are you waiting for? Come enjoy the haunted house party!

First Murder Mystery Alpha Dropping For Patrons Today + New Teaser!

The “Look What The Cat Dragged In” House Party – Murder Mystery Expansion Pack Alpha will be dropping today for Alpha Tier Patrons – sharing a quick first glance at House Party’s next guest DLC!

So, if you’re not in the Alpha Tester (or higher) tier, why not, dood? You can subscribe and support us to enjoy a ~5 minute playable sneak peek of the next guest’s new story when it drops later today!

You’ll “officially” learn the identity of the guest before anyone else. You’ll get to welcome her into the party, see her character model (as well as that sweet outfit we showed off in our Discord Art Stream) inside the game, and mingle with her!

As we mentioned, this isn’t a huge playable build, as we’re still very early in development, and we’ll be releasing this DLC on Patreon in small chunks (possibly on a quest-by-quest basis) as we work through developing it – in hopes of making it available to you ASAP and getting your feedback implemented early in the dev process. We hope you’re hyped to see it as we work on it!

Want to try the new alpha? Join our Patreon and be sure you’re in the “Alpha Tester” tier or higher to come play!

Plus, as a Patron, you’ll be able to access the brand new post from this morning with early information on whether or not Console Commands will be available with the next guest.

Curious what you’ll see in the sneak peek alpha while you’re waiting for it to drop? Here’s a little teaser:

Let us know what you think’s going on here, doods! Seems like things are starting to get a little… Well, a little whatever the hell that is in the video above. Seriously, who wired the lights?

Eh, it was probably some jerry-rigged home-brew wiring job Patrick did, right? Nothing to get worried about.

Anyway, that unexpected new guest outside looks hot as hell! Are you going to let her inside?

Wishlist the House Party – Murder Mystery Expansion Pack on Steam or GOG now!

Also, to help us stay in touch with what the House Party community wants for the future of the game, we have another survey for you doods!

The Holiday Feedback Form you brahs filled out for us a few months back was so helpful to us that we want to do opinion surveys more often so we can stay better in-tune with what you want for the game – especially when our dev team has specific questions we’re wondering about to help us make the game better for you!

We built House Party on player feedback, and that’s how it became the game it is today, so it’s important to us to stay in touch with what the community wants for the game – especially as House Party’s player base continues to grow!

The type of player who enjoys House Party has expanded. Some players ask for more male romanceable NPCs, while others don’t want more males. Some community members say they love the Doja Cat DLC, while we’ve heard from many more who just want more NSFW 18+ content. Some commenters want more celebrities in the game, and others want more House Party characters. And some want us to prioritize Office Party, while others want us to keep supporting House Party with fresh content.

We want to make a game that as many of you love as possible. Whether that means adding more characters of different genders, NSFW 18+ guests, or DLCs based around non-guest characters, we want to hear from you! So, we put together a quick feedback form to help us see what we should focus on!

Update 1.0.9 is live with Quality of Life changes and Custom Story Creator improvements!

Create custom House Party stories easier with “CharacterGroups”, enjoy a new Spanish translation, and check out the new in-game teasers!

House Party Version 1.0.9 is out now! If you like getting creative with House Party, you’ll love the Custom Story Creator changes we made, doods and lady-doods.

Have you ever dreamed of making a party where everyone gets turned on as soon as you take off your shirt? Or where the whole party gangs up on Patrick? Or where all the guests meet up in the living room for a sweet no-pants-allowed dance party?

Yeah. You can do all that and much more way, way easier now, because we added an awesome new feature called “CharacterGroup” behaviors. These let you work faster and more effectively to create more complex stories than ever before.

How does it work? You can now create targeted groups of Characters and use GameEvent, Criteria, Event Trigger, and/or CriteriaGroup behaviors on them selectively or en masse. Not all GameEvents and Criteria are available for use with this system, but this should be super cool nonetheless!

If you’ve worked with the Custom Story Creator before, you already know how difficult it was to send mass instructions to characters – but you no longer have to send one-on-one instructions to them. This is huge, dudes!

Character groups should allow there to be more varied custom stories made by both new and experienced creators alike. We’re stoked to see how you guys use this sweet new story-crafting superpower.

Several previous issues regarding past updates breaking custom stories have also been fixed, so your current stories should work as intended again! We’ve made significant optimizations that will notably reduce the UI “lag” experienced when manipulating many CSC elements, dropdowns, text fields, and so on, too.

(Note: The new optimizations required minor changes to the CSC UI. Some functionalities like sorting/arranging elements are now controlled strictly through user-interactable elements like arrows, the copy/paste functions, and insert/remove.)

Update 1.0.9 also irons out some bugs (some of which were not just minor annoyances), adds some story and engine improvements, and includes a fresh new Spanish translation!

We’ve continued making progress on the user interface and functionality for selecting a holiday DLC pack, too. We still have more mechanics to work on before we can tie DLCs into the engine and bundle the Winter and Halloween holidays into individual downloadable packs, but we’re making good progress!

Plus, we added those two new objects around the party that will be used in our next guest expansion pack! If you want a sneak peek at what’s to come, explore the house and let us know what you think the new fixtures will be used for!

Have fun playing, party brahs! We can’t wait to see your custom stories.

P.S. Want an example of the fun and silly stories you can create with House Party’s Custom Story Creator? Check out this quick video taken from Peter980’s “Fiery Date” story! To learn more about the story or hang out for our House Party dev streams, join our Discord!

Thanks again to everyone who loved House Party’s limited-time event and asked for it to become permanent! We were blown away by how much love you doods had for the seasonal update we added, and we’re happy to officially say that House Party’s spooky season will be returning permanently!

As promised, we will also be adding a toggle on/off feature for the holiday content, so you’ll be able to turn off the Halloween event in-game without having to uninstall or redownload your DLC! Our team is working hard on finalizing this feature and it’s looking like we should move into internal private beta testing for it in early 2023!

This feature should make it super convenient for all of you to manage your seasonal DLC in a straightforward visual selection screen within the Main Menu of the game, so we hope you’ll really like it!

Spooky seasonal decorations, like:
