Hey Partiers! House Party 1.5.2.14289 is live! This update focuses on Steam Deck and controller support, with improvements to menu navigation, readability, and text entry. We’ve also made more translation improvements and fixed a few other issues.
Steam Deck Improvements!
We’ve adjusted text sizes and layouts to make House Party easier to read on Steam Deck’s smaller screen, including dialogue, inventory text, Opportunities, Memories, and interaction menus. Controller prompts are now more consistent when using the Deck’s trackpads, and improved on-screen keyboard support makes entering text easier. We’ve added a Steam Deck Defaults graphics preset, tuned for a better balance of performance and visual quality right out of the gate. This option appears only on Steam Deck and is selected automatically for new Steam Deck installations. Existing players will keep their saved graphics settings. If you already play House Party on Steam Deck, select Steam Deck Defaults in Graphics Settings to apply the tuned configuration. You can still adjust individual settings to your preference.
Better Controller Navigation!
We’ve expanded and improved controller navigation across the main menu, settings, character customizer, custom story browser, and shared design browser. This includes clearer selection highlights, more reliable scrolling, and fixes for controls that were difficult to reach—or menus that were difficult to back out of. Browsing clothing and presets, editing customization options, and exploring community stories and designs should now be more comfortable with a controller. These improvements apply to controller players on desktop PCs too!
Translation Improvements and a Missing-Text Fix!
We fixed an issue that could cut off translated story text after its first line. Longer translated passages now retain their full text, line breaks, and paragraphs. We’ve also improved font coverage to address missing characters in localized text, alongside further refinements to several existing translations. Thank you to everyone who continues to help improve House Party’s translations! If you’d like to contribute in your language, join us on the Eek! Games Discord.
